Texan in Ireland
Originally from Texas, I moved my family to Dublin in 2017. Europe's approach to privacy and security regulation, the quality of education, and the pace of life make Ireland an ideal home base for global security work.
Security and risk executive helping organizations turn governance and compliance into a competitive advantage — not a bottleneck.
A technologist at heart with a top-down view of organizational security.
In well-run companies, the corporate finance organization does far more than merely controlling costs — they ensure financial resources are put to the best possible use to grow the business. I apply that same mindset to security: building solutions that connect companies with their customers while protecting everyone's interests.
My career spans the full stack — from network engineering and systems architecture through to executive-level governance, risk management, and regulatory strategy. I've had the privilege of working with organizations from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises, and cloud providers themselves. One truth is constant: incorporating security in the earliest phases of designing products and services drastically improves the most precious feature of all — customer trust.
I currently serve as Chief Security Advisor at Workday, where I'm leading the transformation of cybersecurity and privacy governance from manual processes to AI-enabled, automation-driven systems. Previously, I built and led a 300+ person global identity and security organization at AWS.
Selected keynotes, conference talks, and workshops on security governance, AI risk, and building resilient organizations.
Credential compromise as an attack vector — challenges in moving beyond secrets and techniques for containment and replacement at scale.
Modern authorization architecture using the Cedar policy language — centralized, human-readable, audit-ready permissions for distributed applications.
How executive leadership prioritizes security within the broader business context — balancing risk, investment, and growth.
Attitudes and laws about privacy, security, and data sovereignty vary worldwide. Success in global business requires awareness that these frameworks exist, conflict, and evolve.
Conference presence: AWS re:Invent, AWS re:Inforce, ISACA Ireland, Cybersecurity for Health, InterTradeIreland, Dub|Sec, Identiverse, (ISC)² Security Congress, SET University guest lectures, and numerous industry and customer events globally.
Balance is as important as it is difficult to achieve.

I study Shaolin Do Kung Fu — the perfect counterbalance to a high-stress career in information security. When you're focused on a 40-pound blade, work problems tend to fade into the background.
Former member of the University of Pittsburgh Men's Glee Club. Music remains a lifelong interest and a reminder that the best outcomes come from people working in harmony.
I feel a responsibility to grow the security profession by making it more inclusive and accessible.
